“YOUR PEST PROBLEMS ARE OUR BUSINESS”
Wasp control can be challenging. Each year wasps build their nests on the eaves of our homes, in our attics and inside our chimney voids. Once they have established themselves they commonly find their way into our homes and businesses. When they are nesting close by they can be a problem as they fly around the area. Many people have a real phobia of wasps, and for a good reason, wasps sting. Many of us are allergic to the stings of wasps, bees, yellow jackets and hornets. Bee stings contribute to a number of human deaths each year.
As cold weather approaches male and female adult wasps mate one last time. Afterwards, the male wasps will die. The female wasps will store the sperm of the males inside her as she hibernates through the winter. As warm weather comes back these fertilized female wasps will emerge from hibernation and begin building new nests. She will lay her eggs inside the cones of the nest. Soon after, newly formed wasps will emerge and continue to expand the nest and colony. Male and females from neighboring colonies will mate and the life cycle continues.
During early Spring wasps frequently find their way into our homes as the hibernating females emerge and begin looking for suitable places to build their nests. As newly hatched wasps emerge they too can often find their way inside homes.
How can WEBBCON Pest Control and Wildlife Removal help you with your wasp control needs?
Getting a wasp problem under control can be difficult. Many pest control and exterminating companies attempt to control wasp problems by spraying pesticides around the outside eaves and areas where wasps are coming from. If the wasp nest is visible and accessible the nests can be directly sprayed from the ground. In some cases this may be an effective method of wasp control. If the wasp nests are inside attics or chimney voids simply spraying the outside of the structure will not be very effective. Yes, residual pesticides will remain on the outside of the structure for a time. Wasps may pick up some of the pesticide when they enter and exit the structure and become infected and die. However, this can take awhile to get a wasp problem under control and may not ever fully eliminate them. At WEBBCON Pest Control and Wildlife Removal we do wasp treatments a little different when needed. If the wasp nests are hidden away inside eaves, attics or chimney voids and we can get to them, we will. Our technicians regularly climb onto roofs and crawl through attics in order to directly spray the wasps on their nests and to remove the nest for good. Removing the nests will ensure that any undeveloped eggs or larva will not develop into adults after we are gone. Removing the nest will also cause any wasps that are away from the nest at the time to find somewhere else to live. We also remove wasp nests year round, as we find them, while performing regular scheduled pest control treatments for our annual pest control customers. Doing this will help prevent future wasp problems for our customers.
